40000 Words

40KI just penned the 40,000th word for the story. More than anything else, its a personal milestone. This is the first time when I have spent so much time and effort on one single thing.

In terms of the book, to put things in context, a typical paperback is about 80000 words. In that sense, I have written half the book, well on schedule for a Nov 2013 finish.

But then first time authors are expected to write 120000 words, find a great professional editor and chop these 120K words into 80K words fit for publishing. And that means I am at the one-third mark.

Either ways, they are conventional numbers. My sense is that I need another 40K words to tell the story that I have in my head. Unless there is a twist up ahead. But then like the great Yogi Berra once said, “When You Come to a Fork in the Road, Take It!”, I would worry about these twists & turns and forks & detours as and when I reach there.

Till then, I am just enjoying the break (read as putting on more weight, playing poker, working on The Nidhi Kapoor Story, reading, travelling etc). Do spend sometime on the FB page. I need those likes to be able to make a case to a good publisher.

Until next time!
